Animating a Dialogue Scene - Finishing the Key Character Posing (Part I)

Our clever tutor guided me in the modeling up to frame 70 and then modeled the remainder of the animation behind the scenes. Here's what I have so far:

Beginning to block the animation for a character's dialogue scene (which could be more accurately a monologue, since we don't even know if he is actually talking to someone).

Game Asset - The Lambo of Armchairs (jk)

Sorry for the gap between low-poly work in progress and the final work rendering - I'll update the high-poly and uv texturing soon! Until then, check out my armchair!

Thanks again to Joshua Roberts for his assistance! With Digital-Tutors down, it would have been impossible to finish this project without his advice! Be sure to check out his game asset as well!

Stylized Set Element - Not So Fast...

See the textures? :D

Thanks to Joshua Roberts for providing the needed insight in order to apply the textures! Couldn't have gotten this far without his help!

Stylized Set Element - White Flag

I yield. This is how the tutor's model looks:

Even though the end of this project does not please me, it was an enlightening series. It has always baffled my mind how textures would display on 3D geometry out of flat, 2D files, and it's good to finally get a basic understanding of how that works.

Stylized Set Element - Attempts on Texturing (S.O.S.)

Somebody please rescue me from this texturing mess of normal maps without ambient occlusion maps and Mental Ray! (I believe it's my fault that I can't fully understand what the issues are and how can I solve them; my inexperience with UV texture mapping - first time I'm doing this - and the effects of being awake past 3 AM for the second night in a row do not help me as I try to perceive how can I go around all the apparently insignificant setbacks that Maya has put on my path and figure out what can be done from this point, which looks a lot like a dead end to me).

Stylized Set Element - Setting Up Master Photoshop File

With my Maya not supporting Ambient Occlusion mapping under Transfer Maps, and after several reports of fellow students about Maya crashing every time they tried to bake their Ambient maps, I decided to jump to the next lesson (not before I had watched the entire lesson about baking Ambient Occlusion maps). In this lesson we use Photoshop to make two texture files that will encompass all normals to project textures from a single material using two files (normal map for bump mapping, diffuse map for color). Without the diffuse map (aka Ambient Occlusion map), here is how the well looks with the bump mapping solely:
